Hinesburg, VT: Hinesburg
Community School (HCS) Principal Bob Goudreau announced today that an official
opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Wainer Community Playground
will be held on June 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the playground, adjacent to the
school’s lower parking lot.
Hinesburg Community School, located at 10888 Route 116 in
the heart of the village, serves the Pre-K through 8th grade
population for the Town of Hinesburg, approximately 485 children. The
playground and surrounding park also provide recreational opportunities for all
community members including those in neighboring towns.
The grand opening and sign dedication are the culmination of
five years of community fundraising and volunteer efforts. The school’s
Partnership in Education group (PiE) and numerous parent volunteers were
integral to the project’s success.
The previous 20-year old playground was dismantled in 2010
and the current replacement has been erected, in several stages, over the
course of the last 18 months, primarily by volunteer efforts of the school’s
community.
Representatives from several donor organizations, including
local businesses and the Town of Hinesburg will be on hand to participate in
the event.
The official opening and ribbon cutting will be held in
conjunction with Hinesburg Community School’s “Field Day,” an annual event for
the students held on the playground and adjacent fields. The ribbon cutting
ceremony will be held rain or shine, though Field Day will be held weather
permitting.
The public is invited and welcome to attend this
celebration.
